Sanctum of Domination Encounters

In these mini guides I'll discuss fight specific cooldown timings, talent changes and any tips/tricks I learned throughout progression. Your baseline raid talents should always look like this, and your soulbinds should look like this. Please note these mini guides are for MYTHIC DIFFICULTY (some information may still be relavent for heroic/normal).

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

As the first and most simple fight in Sanctum of Domination, don't expect a lot of unexpected damage here. Use your Wings + Divine Toll when available after a Wave of Blood cast as that's the only raid damage in the fight. If your raid doesn't have your Aura Mastery assigned, just use it on one of the Wave of Blood casts that you don't have DT or Wings up for.

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

Since there is very little healing to be done on this fight, your best use of Ashen/Wings will be on pull with lust to help kill the boss as fast as possible. Use your second wings on the first Wave of Blood cast out of the intermission phase. If you get a second ashen, just use it on cooldown during the second main phase. If your raid doesn't have your Aura Mastery assigned, cast it before one of the Wave of Blood casts that you don't have Ashen or Wings up for.

Tips & Tricks

To be honest I don't really have any tips or tricks for this fight as there isn't much of anything going on, it's a very straight forward fight that everyone has to play the same. Just make sure to get away from the raid with Echolocation and follow the raid around during intermission.

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

The major damage patterns to watch for on this fight are the Sinseekers and the Hecutis tank stack clears. Your best uses of Divine Toll and Wings will be right after one of these damage events triggers. Make sure you don't use wings right before Hecutis comes out as that is the most healing intensive part of the encounter.

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

Where you Ashen on this fight is highly dependent on your groups damage, as the main section of the fight you'll want wings/ashen for is the Hecutis phase. Your first wings/ashen, if you can fit it in, should be right before the first sinseeker of the fight. Your second wings should be on the next sinseeker that happens after your wings comes off cooldown.

Tips & Tricks

Make sure to use Lay on Hands on the big rip soul add that spawns as you'll pretty much always get full value, plus it heals up the soul quickly! For the smaller souls that spawn, light of dawn will hit them so rather then trying to spot heal each one, your best bet is to pool some HP and dump it into LoDs facing them.

BoP can be used to immune the physical portion of the Sinseeker debuffs, so use that on specs that only have magic immunities to fully immune soak the lines. You can also fully soak them yourself with bubble as it immunes both magic and physical damage. Lastly, if any of the Shades of Bargast appear to be getting a cast off, make sure to use HoJ to stop them from casting!

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

This fight is full of AoE damage patterns for Kyrians so feel free to just lob everything on CD.

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

Similar to Kyrian, there really is no bad spot to use Ashen on this boss as there is fairly consistent AoE damage going out. As long as you get your first cast off within the first 30 seconds of the fight, you should get 2 full Ashens off so make sure to use your first Ashen/Wings early.

Tips & Tricks

This fight is incredibly frustrating for healers, as being unable to heal low health players is always the worst. I highly suggest using this weakaura to help highlight players who can't be healed on your raid frames. Light of Dawn is your best friend on this fight as most of the raid is stacked in melee and injured.

Save your Aura Mastery for an Expunge cast where your raid is light on cooldowns and you think players may die. If there are a lot of bad bubble spawns close to the raid, use Divine Steed + Bubble to clear a bunch of them quickly to free up lots of room!

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

The best damage patterns for Divine Toll on this fight are the Bottled Anima circle soaks. Every time this goes off, at least 5 players will be injured from soaking the circles, making it perfect for Divine Toll. Use your first wings/DT on the first soak, then on cooldown any time there's a soak.

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

As Venthyr on this boss you can choose to either use your Ashen at the start of the fight with lust to help push boss damage and phase it earlier, or save it for the first Botteled Anima circle soaks to get more healing from it. Either way, your second Ashen Hallow should generally be right before a replicated Bottled Anima cast when it becomes available again towards the end of the fight.

Tips & Tricks

There are a few things to watch for as a Holy Paladin in this fight. The first is that the Sins and Suffering lines will always target a healer, so make sure you save your Divine Steed so you can quickly move out and clear the lines. The second is that towards the end of the fight, the raid will spawn one more set of adds which will be more dangerous then the previous sets. Use your bubble BEFORE the Concentrated Anima cast goes off to pre-immune the add so it doesn't spawn at all!

Once the Concentrated Anima is empowered, you should use Blessing of Freedom on the furthest rooted player so they can move in and place the adds closer to the other two players. Use a weakaura like this to highlight the raid frames of targeted players to help you get your freedom out faster.

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

Xy'mox is another fight with constant damage, so you can pretty much use everything on cooldown, just make sure to hold your initial Wings/DT cast until ~5 seconds in when the first damage pattern occurs (Hyperlight Spark).

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

This is a great boss to get huge Ashen value from both healing and damage. Your first Ashen/Wings should be on pull with lust to help with damage and heal Hyperlight Sparks. Your second wings should be on cooldown as you want to make sure to have it back for Ashen when it comes back up. Your final Ashen should pretty much be as soon as it's available (wait for the next hyperlight spark if everyone is topped).

Tips & Tricks

There aren't really any tips or tricks for this fight from a Holy Paladin perspective as you shouldn't have any special jobs (running seeds, etc) and should just be able to blast throughput from melee the entire time. If you group gets behind in clearing Stasis Traps, use Bubble to quickly run over and clear them all.

2. Holy Avenger instead of Divine Purpose

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

For my Kyrian friends, I have made an extremely detailed video guide for this fight specifically due to how unique it is for healers, so please watch it here.

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

For my Venthyr friends, a few things to note before watching the Sun King video guide, I highly suggest running Tuft of Smoldering Plumage (the trinket from Sun King) as even at lower item level it will do massive boss healing within your burst window (use it on pull). While the video guide is from a Kyrian paladin perspective, the only difference is you should pre-cast Ashen Hallow so it hits on pull, then continute the rotation exactly the same (minus pressing divine toll of course). With that said, it's now time for you to watch the video guide.

Tips & Tricks

All the tips and tricks I have for this fight are detailed out very clearly in the video guide so make sure to watch!

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

Kyrians were born for this fight, as the only major raidwide damage event happens once each minute (Dancing Fever) so as a general rule just use your Wings/DT on cooldown with each Dancing Fever cast.

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

For Venthyr, sadly the timings on this fight do not lend themselves very well to Ashen. That said, the two crucial spots to Ashen are on pull and at the end of the fight (the final dancing fever / Dark Recital around 25% boss hp). Your second Ashen will have to either be right before the second Danse Macabre or right after depending on group damage and how fast/slow you phase.

Tips & Tricks

Spending one global to HoJ the waiters will provide far more effective healing then any heal you have, so make sure you use that on cooldown to stop their Throw Food casts, especially later in the fight. Make sure you pool holy power for Dark Recital, Dancing Fever and Drain Essence as those are the most dangerous damage patterns in the fight.

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

Both Kyrians and Venthyrs have very strong cooldown timings for this fight, and it's pretty straight forward. Use Wings/DT instantly on pull, then on cooldown for the rest of the fight (it will line up with every pillar break).

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

For Venthyrs on this fight, you should always use Ashen on pull, then on the 4th pillar break. That means you'll be using Wings on pull + 2nd pillar break + 4th pillar break.

Tips & Tricks

The only trick specific to Holy Paladin on this fight is using BoP to immune sac one of the final Chain Slams (4th or 5th). If your group uses this strat, use this weakaura to highlight which player to BoP on your raid frames when they need it.

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

The biggest damage patterns to watch for in this fight are the Heart Rend debuffs expiring, Wicked Blades that splash hit other players, and the Pulverizing Meteor group soak. Use your Wings/DT on cooldown after any one of these happen.

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

Where you Ashen this fight is entirely dependent on how fast your group phases the boss and intermission phases. I personally prefer holding ashen for the intermission phase as it's much more dangerous then phase 1 and you'll get significantly better value from it. This means the best cooldown timings would be to Wings the first Wicked Blades that go out in the fight, then Wings/Ashen the intermission phase as soon as the Goliath dies (generally around halfway through the intermission). Your second ashen would then just be used on cooldown so you can have it up again for Phase 3 after the first Reverberating Eruption and Seismic Upheaval.

Tips & Tricks

This fight is awful no matter what spec or role you're playing, the timings are awkward and spell queing is still wonky despite multiple tuning passes attempting to fix it. The only really Holy Paladin specific thing to mention is that you can use BoP to immune either Wicked Blade or the Goliath's leap. This is particularly important during Phase 2 when Seismic Upheaval is happening and the player can get lept on / stunned in the upheaval. Watch for that or any Wicked Blades that may be going on someone who is low hp or unhealable and make sure you're quick with your BoPs!

Sylvanas Windrunner
Talent Changes

1. Beacon of Faith instead of Glimmer (if your group only runs 1 hpal)

Cooldown Timings (Kyrian)

In Phase 1, as per usual, Kyrians get to be fairly carefree about their cooldown usage on this fight as there are a lot of AoE damage events. There's nothing you should be saving your Wings or DT for so just pop them on cooldown after any AoE damage occurs (Cleansing Pain, Blood Price, Night Hunter, etc).
In Phase 2 your best Divine Tolls will be on impale targets so watch for those timings and try to line up your casts with that. For Phase 3, use your Wings/DT either before or after Blood Price, depending on how topped the raid group is (generally everyone has to be ~80% hp to survive).

Cooldown Timings (Venthyr)

Ashen is at its most powerful in Phase 1 of this fight, so make sure you get a huge one down after the first Cleansing Pain goes out (you can hold until first Night Hunter cast starts if your priest is spirit shelling the first Cleansing Pain). Your second wings will be right after the final blood price of the phase.
In Phase 2 your second Ashen will be used on the second Crimson Cabalist spawns. This will line up your next wings with the first Blood Price of Phase 3, and your final Ashen/Wings with the 6th Shattering Pain of Phase 3 (the one before Blood Price 3) to help push boss damage and top everyone before and after Blood Price.

Tips & Tricks

In Phase 1, the most important trick is the ability to pre-freedom the March of the Penitent. If you hold your GCD and time your Freedom to go off less then .5 seconds before Sire finishes his March cast at 70%, you'll be able to make it from the edge to the center before freedom even wears out. You do this by getting a roar from any druid in the raid and jumping as Freedom is wearing off (time your jump for when Freedom is expiring in less then .5 seconds). That said, it's still a good idea to remove 1-2 stacks of Burden of Sin just in case you aren't perfect every time.

In Phase 2, a warning I should probably give you is that if you're Venthyr, your Ashen Hallow animation will be almost the same color as Remornia's blades and the Cabalist death pools, so make sure you're watching very carefully any time you have to dodge while in Ashen.

In the final phase of this fight, make sure you use Divine Protection before every Blood Price as it hits insanely hard. You need to save your BoP and Bubble for the second Sinister Reflection cast, as the group will be moving DURING Remornia blades and a Shattering Pain knockback. This lineup of mechanics is what you'll want to Bubble, and you should also throw BoP on one of your melee that can't immune the knockback (I usually throw mine on a monk).

The last section in this guide will get give you the tools you'll need to push your game to the next level!
